The typical process of creation is to INHALE and then EXHALE. We INHALE to gather the information we need, and then we EXHALE the creation into the world. The inhale may last a day, a week, a month or several months. Sometimes we don’t know when we are in an inhale, until we begin to exhale once again. However, there are times, when we inhale, and PAUSE.
Words are matter in the realm of sound. In the past I would have put the same meaning to the words inhale and pause. Possibly even describing an inhale as a pause. This is why the journey never ends. A recent experience has taught me the ever so subtle, yet powerful difference between the two.
The inhale happens naturally, it is the pause that is subtle. All of a sudden there is no desire to create, we have ideas and have no desire to act upon them. We begin to think we are procrastinating, yet we don’t know why. Often we find ourselves in a reflective state of being that encompasses writing, engaging in conversations, reading, exploring etc..
The pause is what catches us off guard, and involves being in a holding pattern. Only we are unaware we are in a holding pattern. Not until it’s time to EXHALE.
We recognize the pause when the EXHALE happens. This might be in a breath! All of a sudden we feel the need, the desire, the urgency to create and share our creations with the world. Things move quickly, we begin to see invitations and opportunities everywhere, and we are ready and willing to engage.
Here is something I just discovered, sometimes in the inhale and pause time moves quickly, all of a sudden months have passed. Then in the exhale time slows. There is time to do everything we want, IF we choose to engage. The subtly of the inhale, the pause and the exhale may be noticed in how time passes. This is not an exact science…because time does not exist, and each of us creates our reality. So how time passes in my reality may not be how it passes in yours.
When was the last time you stopped and paid attention to where you are in the ever spiralling cycle of your life? Are you in the inhale? Reflecting and day dreaming of possibilities. Or are you in the pause? On hold, not yet ready or willing to move forward or backward. Or are you in the exhale? Both ready and willing to engage in life, to create and share your creations with the world.
There is no good/bad/right or wrong, this is about noticing, becoming aware of where you are in this moment. Each space, every experience we find ourselves in, is essential in our evolution. Our life can change in a breath…when we are ready and willing.
Until the next time!
