Are you living the ‘perfect life’, and yet…you’re dying?
Often what you see on the outside does not always match what’s going on inside. We are taught to analyze, strategize, and push through, even though our bodies may be telling us something different. We feel tired, ok exhausted, we find ourselves uninterested in things that brought us joy. We find reasons to be negative, we eat, drink, shop, exercise…anything but stop and allow ourself to feel what’s going on.
I know this well. I’ve been there. Living a life that I thought was a truth, telling myself a lie, and I had no idea. It took hitting a brick wall, metaphorically, to notice.
When we’re unaware of what is moving inside of us we cannot imagine our life playing out differently. We think everything is ok, but there is a nagging, we get sick, we bump into things, we have more arguments. It shows up as perfectionism, with us chasing a thing that doesn’t exist, except in our intellect. It’s the elusive carrot we’re chasing. The conversation might go something like this…If I do this…If I accomplish this…If this happens… When this happens…These are all signs of something isn’t right. We’re in our head.
What we don’t know is,
The most freeing experience is to have our intellect no longer running the show.
The only way to move beyond the current state of discontent is to BE in another state. To engage the problem from a different perspective. To move beyond the intellect. It requires learning a few things like how to…
- Be compassionate with yourself and others. We are harshest on ourself, and as a result, with the people in our life.
- Listen to what your body was trying to tell you. All the signs are there, the aches and pains, the discomfort, we’re just often oblivious to them.
- Reconnect with yourSELF. We sometimes become this person we don’t recognize, all in an attempt to be who others want us to be.
- Be vulnerable and express what’s really going on. This is the toughest because it requires us owning the truth of our experience and making different choices.
What if you are already living the ‘perfect life’? AND what if you can live the perfect life and not be dying? Perfection doesn’t mean everything is going smoothly. Perfection is knowing you have choice. Knowing no matter what is going on you can change your mind at any time to create something different. It’s a journey, there is no end point just other layers of discovery waiting to unfold.
