Have you ever noticed the thing you think about is the thing that seems to happen? It got me thinking about when we set a goal, and where our attention is. That somehow they are connected.
Our thoughts are like a spiders web. Each thought is like a strand connected to all the others in some way. The strength of the web is determined by the depth of its interconnectedness. When we think the same thoughts, and speak the same words over and over it creates a very strong web of who we believe ourselves to be and what we think we can and cannot do.
Sooooo maybe you want to lose weight, quit smoking, spend more time with your family and yet the opposite happens. Why is that? Well, having a goal is one thing. Paying attention to the web of thoughts and words we spend our time thinking, and talking about, is the key.
We create our world based on where our attention is. The universe will give us what we think and talk about. So, if you want to lose weight, and keep your attention on all the weight you’ve gained, haven’t lost, and keep talking about how hard it is, it will be hard. The same with anything else.
Reframing your words can change your reality!
What if you were willing to reframe how you spoke to yourself? It might change how you see and engage your world. This is different from the fake till you make it thinking. It’s about reframing your words internally and externally to match the vibration of what you want. This is about learning how to pay attention to the sensory cues in your body when you think and speak.
Using the weight loss example again, by shifting your thoughts and words to something like, “I’m going to feel really good when I fit into those jeans again.” “I’m going to feel invigorated after a workout.” And, “That bowl of fruit is going to nourish my body.” creates a very different vibration. The reframe is an invitation for a shift in your internal state. One that creates ease, as opposed to one that creates a fight. Things are hard enough with out us fighting ourself.
Are you willing to give it a go? What’s one thing you want to change? Notice how you talk to yourself and others about it and create sentences that reframes it in a way that invites a different vibration inside of you. I’m going to guess you will find yourself meeting your goal faster, and it will be more enjoyable.
Until the next time!
Lisa
