This podcast has been two years in the making. Meaning I recorded it two years ago and only just had the impulse to release it. As I re-listened during the editing process I realized it’s timeless. It is raw and provocative, awakening questions we often want to run and hide from.
What does it mean to penetrate your capital S SELF? To move beyond the conversation at an environmental level and move it up to the level of connection? This is what my guest Ruben Irons and I explore. I work with men on a one-on-one basis and part of group program experiences. Those who have, and continue to engage, are the ones who are READY and WILLING, looking to relax into a new way of BEING.
I have known Ruben for a few years now. He and I have had many one-on-one conversations and he has been part of a three day conversation experience. He is an artist blacksmith living in the deep woods of Nova Scotia with his wife and 3 year old daughter. Together they grow vegetables, raise laying hens, and explore the many emotional states brought about by family living. Ruben draws his artistic inspiration from being close to wilderness and is passionate about his recumbent bicycle. I am proud to say I own several pieces of his work, including a one of a kind plant stand he designed.
Much like his work of using intense heat to penetrate the iron, Ruben’s willingness to do the deep dive engaging the depth of his intensity is inspiring, and I knew he was the one to engage this exploration with.
Make yourself a cup of tea, take a seat in your favourite chair and relax into exploring the intricacies that reveal themselves as we discover what it means to penetrate your SELF!
Until the next time…
Lisa

Remarkable insights from a young man!
Reuben Irons penetrates the thorny inner jungle of conflicted male emotions
and creates a thoughtful path to healthier interpersonal relationships.
Lisa is a very honest and wise woman , a real guide on the human journey at every step of the interview. Uplifting!
Thank you Holly and Winston!
This conversation is so important. For me the ‘thorny inner jungle of emotions’ is the starting point, and the invitation to move beyond the ‘words’ that we frame the sensations that emerge from deep within resonating in tissue. Ruben’s willingness to engage what ‘moves’ inside of him, knowing it’s all his is the leap I know is possible for everyone. ~Lisa~
