Are you tired of the 5, 7 or 10 steps to… coming into your inbox, with the promise of ‘if you just follow these steps your life will change, you will become a better lover, parent, friend, boss‘ you name it? I’ve been there…followed the steps…because I’m anal that way, only to find myself back where I started, even more frustrated with another book, or binder, on the shelf.
ENOUGH!
I wanted my life to change and I didn’t know HOW to do it, I was on the constant hunt. Then one day I discovered that it isn’t about the steps, meaning strategy, it was about shifting how I engaged what was going on internally. Now let me tell you this was not easy at first. I had to actually recognize that there was something going on inside AND to FEEL it. You see I was DISCONNECTED, I felt the big stuff…pain, pleasure, guilt, shame, fear, joy or at least what my head told me they were supposed to feel like. It was only when I started to notice all the little, subtle sensations that I missed, meaning ignored, when my life began to change.
I have to admit, I had no idea if I actually knew ‘how to feel.’ It has been a journey, and it began with me learning to BREATH! Yes, you heard me, I had to learn to BREATH. You see up until that discovery I walked around most of my day holding my breath a LOT. I know we all breath, without the breath we would not be here. There is, however, a difference when we choose to take a breath with intention, and to notice everything that happens when we inhale and EXHALE.
A non step process requires that we know we are SAFE in our bodies, that we know nothing that moves inside of us is there to hurt us. Consider it this way. Overwhelm is a state of mind, it is a word that we use to describe sensations going on inside. When I choose to let go of the word, to know that the sensations moving inside is energy and information, we give ourselves permission to relax into…a opposed to brace against what is there. Consider the only step required is to choose to take a breath.
Transformation requires a paradigm shift. A different way of BEING, in this state no steps or strategy is required.
Until next time…
